ABOUT

HUNK is a Dutch band that blends '90s grunge with catchy synth-pop, creating their own "diet grunge pop.” Their energetic performances and playful chaos make every show feel alive. Frontwoman Joan de Bruyn Kops thrives on interaction, often jumping into the crowd and sparking mosh pits, making every show an experience shared between the band and their fans.

Since forming on May 29, 2023, HUNK has been growing fast. With every show, more people return, sometimes even wearing HUNK shirts, something the band still finds surreal.

More than anything, they want to create a space where everyone can be themselves,

without holding back.

Their breakout moment came in March 2024 when they won the prestigious Rob Acda Award, impressing the jury with their energy and unpolished fun. This win landed them a spot on the main stage of Bevrijdingspop Haarlem on May 5, 2024, a big milestone so early in their journey.

That same week, their debut single Blushing over Nothing was crowned Tune of the Week on KINK radio. In September, they took things even further by opening ViceFest, playing for a new crowd and growing their audience even more.

HUNK spent much of 2024 touring across the Netherlands as part of Popronde, a traveling festival that introduced them to new cities and new fans. But staying within the lines has never been their style. Instead of just releasing singles, they find ways to make each moment special.

Their first single Blushing over Nothing was celebrated with a performance on the main stage of Bevrijdingspop Haarlem. Their second single Paul had it's own moment on the main stage of The Oosterpoort in Groningen during ViceFest (what an inspiring festival). And in true HUNK fashion, instead of just dropping the song, they made a homemade boxing game where fans could challenge Paul as one of the band members.

When Tommy came around, they went in another direction, celebrating with the filming of a short movie about the characters Tommy and Paul, alongside an intimate listening party where attendees competed against Paul and each other in the HUNK vs Paul competition.

Now, with their first EP on the way, they’re figuring things out as they go,

excited to see what comes next… just like everyone who’s been following along.
